What To Bring To Class

  • $350.00 check or cash. Make checks payable to Merkley's.
  • Bring a lunch or $5.00 for pizza.
  • Pen and paper for note taking.
  • An Oklahoma drivers manual which can be picked up at any tag agency.
  • Be sure to check-in at 7:45 am on the first day of class.

In order to obtain a Learner Permit License (Restriction 9) the student must be:

  1. 15 1/2 years old.
  2. Currently receiving instruction in a driver education program.
  3. Have 2 forms of ID (Birth Certificate or Passport and a SS Card, School ID or Parent Affidavit).
  4. Social Security number.
  5. School letter (Includes proof of enrollment in school and a passing grade on the 8th grade reading test).
  6. Merkley's Driving School Registration form.
  7. Pass the Vision & Written Test (75%) at the Department of Public Safety.

***Now they can drive with a licensed driver 21 or older sitting in the front seat. No other restrictions apply.

In order to obtain an Intermediate License (Restriction G) the student must be:

  1. At least 16 years old.
  2. Have had a permit for 6 months with no accidents or tickets.
  3. Have driven 40 hours with a permit; 10 of those hours at night. (Signed affidavit by parent which can be found on this page under "Affidavit Download" or a parent can sign in person at DPS.)
  4. Completed a driver training program and have a certificate of completion.
  5. Pass the driving test (70%) at the Department of Public Safety.

***Now they can drive by themselves and have 1 friend in the car or have as many family members living in the same household in the car with them. They cannot drive between the hours of 11 PM and 5 AM unless it is a school, work or church related activity.

Fees Involved at the Tag Agency:

  • $25.50 First time Learner License (Permit)
  • $10.00 Duplicate license (Restriction Change)
  •   $4.00 Fail fee for written and driving tests
